This is my daily mantra. Whether I’m at work or at play, I keep the wise words of those Buried Life kids in mind. With each decision I make about creating software I wonder if I’m getting any closer to my goal of making someone’s day at work, when they suddenly realize a formerly mundane task was made significantly easier, if not…delightful, to accomplish. I think our mobile devices have been making us feel that way a lot as of late, having the world wide web (how antiquated does that sound?) at our fingertips 24/7 is rather exhilarating even if the user experience isn’t always the greatest. I have not given up hope that enterprise software can’t give people warm fuzzies too. I’ve seen glimmers of it lately as companies realize they can take advantage of the training we’re all getting on social networks. Filter on the left, view my data on the right. Wash, rinse, repeat.
